Wipperfürth
Centre and focus of the Hanse-town Wipperfürth - oldest town of the 'Bergisches Land' - is the market place.
The luminaires around blend harmonically in with the historic face of the town.
This market place was lit by mercury vapour lamps until a few year ago, and then, in those small lanes, the light sometimes reached even into the bedrooms of the townspeople.
In these 200 luminaires the mercury vapour lamps have been replced by LED modules and the light distribution has been adjusted to local needs:
- asymmetric design with 3 boards to one side
- illuminates the traffic ways appropriately and
- minimises light pollution/ light losses at the same time
Thier
A luminaire beside the church of the 'golden' village Wipperfürth-Thier
(they won various contests like 'most beautiful village' or ' village with a future')
plays a primary role in our Retrofit-film.
Here the former rectory on the opposite side of the road, illuminated in the twilight hours.
Dachau
For the Bavarian town of Dachau Radium has made 100 exchange modules and had them built in into the existing luminaires. Another additional line for a central control system did not exist.
Nevertheless, light control was desired as half night lighting (every 2nd luminaire off) creates a visional difficult situation with many dark zones. Uniform, homogeneous and dimmed lighting in the dark hours makes things safe and still saves energy.
Due to those requirements the AstroDIM method has been applied: The ballasts are programmed according to location and thus, they control the luminaires in tune with the course of the day and corresponding to the needs of the community.
Kevelaer
Dachau).
